Same here, "your socket was closed". My net connection has no problems. Hope we get a fix asap. Never had this message or problem before the patch. ------- "I cherish the memories of a question my grandson asked me the other day, when he said; 'Grandpa, were you a hero in the war?' Grandpa said, 'No, but I served in a company of heroes." |

Is there any official answer to this issue anywhere on the forums? Is CCP doing something about it? If i loose my 300 mil ship in a fleet battle cause of "your socket was closed" will CCP give it back?

Well i wont play too much in the next few days but i guess the most i can do is keep spamming every time i disconnect with "your socket was closed" until one of CCP's guys listens to us and answers what we can do. Or at least tell us theyre looking into it.
Cause this is seriously annoying.

Im still getting random disconnects with this message, cleared my cache reset all my settings overview brackets etc and still getting disconnected and STILL no official dev answer to this.
Its pretty obvious so please dont handle it as "our logs show nothing, the problem is on your side".

I dont knwo why you would think its the same issue. I never got disconnects before the patch except when my router changed ip, also it doesnt just disconnect it gives the message "your socket was closed" every time.

Not like it was intended to be fixed... but this issue still exists after patch and is very annoying. Also i dont think all of us experiencing packet loss nodes at their ISPs, caused by ccp's QR patch... Yes i did write what youve read.

Originally by: linlou locku Hi,
I had been having this problem since the 1st patch of QR but have now found a way around it.
I have open the Recruitment channel, along with the ships, moduals and other trade channels and just turn the blink off. There are always people chatting in them and this means that eve does not idle if you are not doing anything and wont disconnect/socket closed.
This I found solved the socket closed problem but not the memory leak,
Give it a try and I hope it helps.
Cheers
Unfortunately this doesnt help. Maybe you were lucky. It doesnt only disconnect when you go afk for a few minutes or more, as i think some of us wrote it above it also disconnects when youre travelling doing something in stations or even... fighting.
Im trying to capture this socket closed dc with logserver but im so damn unlucky that i get 2 dc in 5 minutes then i start logserver up, game runs fine for 7 hours then under the LOTS of data logserver crashes, then 5 minutes after i get another dc :D Im trying to confirm that this problem still exists after the second qr patch cause i didnt get it yet.
Maybe you guys too should fire up logserver :) And if it gives a dc create a petition and send it to ccp. Would really help cause we wont solve this problem in the forums or in this topic and it seems , although they dont admit it , they have absolutely no idea what causes this problem since QR is out...

Edited by: Rramar Claime on 01/12/2008 19:11:46 Guys please file petitions, and send them ping plotter results, and logserver results when the game disconnects. I have petitions open to them about this issue since QR is out and although i think they only answered in copy-paste standard answers i cant provide them more info on this, cause fortunately i dont get the socket closed dc that often anymore. So please help me and yourself with running logserver and saving it when you disconnect and filing a petition and sending them that result, cause that was the last thing they asked from me too. Edit: and as you know (since we cant find a workaround it seems) we cant solve this problem in the forums, you MUST file petitions about this.
Btw i didnt change anything and my corpies still have this problem, somehow for me it only happened 1 time since the latest patch. Now i and the whole region and alliances here "only" get insane lag when doing... actually anything. ------- "I cherish the memories of a question my grandson asked me the other day, when he said; 'Grandpa, were you a hero in the war?' seriously this works, send me isk for solving all your probs tia
This might explain why i dont have this problem since the last patch where they say they corrected the mem leak and we can use high memory settings again. Will check if i get dc with low mem settings Still its a problem for htose who dont have 3 or more gigs of memory i guess.

Just got socket closed again, so the high memory settings didnt fix it.

Several people have already sent in bug reports, but none with the above mentioned information detailed.
I was in the middle of my petition, ive sent in several ping plotter results, and while i was still gathering logserver results the petition closed (automatically it seems) cause i didnt reply within one week. Kinda hard to help you guys fix it when you close the petition, and i didnt see it anywhere that i'd have to reply within a week.
Well nevermind i think i wont bother with it again cause it took me too long to even accept the fact that the "socket closed" disconnects are not related to our ISPs and only appear since QR is out. Not to mention the copy paste default messages i received like i was talking to robots who didnt even read what i wrote, even better they didnt understand a word of it. (like i wrote down about a thousand times how random the dc is and then asking me to reproduce and write down the exact steps how i got the dc was kind of ... well it makes you a bit angry)
Was too much effort to "play" beta testing for eve, with all the epic buglist i wrote in my thread. So ... well... lets hope i wont get it that often again. And good luck to you devs for fixing it.

My advice for those stupid copy paste replies is you stand up for yourself and dont be afraid to rage out. Not necessarily cause hes evil but every worker is lazy as hell, especially those dealing with customers. If they think they can get away with it they WILL f*** you up and tell you to go to your ISP although its pretty obvious that EVE changed with QR and not the whole world's ISPs changed at the same moment QR came out. Of course its nice to think eve can influence the behaviour of THE Internet but...
Dont forget they do look at you like the last dumb 5 year old boy on the world, just dont let yourself get fooled and stand up for yourself if its THAT obvious they are wrong. If he can close the petition and finish his job cause you will start bothering the ISP rather than him then who the hell would like to work and try to fix the problem. everybody would love to go home to their wife and kids and it will take a few months for you and the same ***hole employees at the ISP to figure out the problem is also not on their side.
In the end all the failures they make will have to make them realize that not even their ubermegaamazing marketing campaign can keep up with the unsatisfied customers telling all their friends about eve online...
But. Bumping wont help. Keep gathering info about the disconnects and saving them in logserver and pingplotter and then attaching them to the bugreport and the petition.
